About

Insect ecologist, interested in bioacoustics, ecoaustics and soundscape ecology. My current goal is to establish a baseline for insect acoustic monitoring. Amateur nature photographer and informatics enthusiast. I use R programming language packages as my main tool for analysis.

I am currently master's student at David Gray's lab, CalState Northridge (go Matadors!), working in orthopterans acoustic community ecology in Santa Monica Mountains.

Before that, I completed my bachelor's thesis along with my mentor and colleague Orlando Acevedo-Charry at the National University of Colombia (proud Búho).

Got into the world of enthomology by learning from German Amat-Garcia, great teacher and friend, working along with him and the Group of High Mountain Arthropods in the Matarredonda Paramo Project. Discovered the wondrous world of soundscape ecology at Purdue's Center for Global Soundscapes.

Eager to continue exploring the marvelous nature, open to collaborations.

The bioacoustics-art symposium - 2022

It was a great experience to co-organize the 1st Colombian Bioacoustics Congress' art symposium alongside Angela Mendoza from Instituto Humboldt and Angela Téllez from Señal Colombia. Art and acoustic science produce powerful synergies. Villa de Leyva, Colombia.

Working with wildfire soundscapes in California - 2022

I had the opportunity to work alongside Dr. David A. Gray for my master's thesis on wildfire effects over insect acoustic communities. Santa Monica Mountains, California, USA.

ANH project sounds team - 2021

While working at Humboldt Institute could work along with great professionals in bioacoustics: Alexandra Buitrago, Daniela Martinez Medina and Santiago Ruiz. Puerto Wilches, Colombia

Holding a Proscopiidae - 2021

There is always interesting insects to see during fieldtrips. Puerto Wilches, Colombia.

Sharing Colombian culture overseas - 2019

Explaining about traditional colombian sports to students, while doing volunteer work for a spanish learning service at Purdue. West Lafayette, IN, USA.

The GAAM team - 2018

While at my bachelor's had the oppotunity to start and lead the High Montain Arthropod's Group, we assesed Matarredonda paramo biodiversity and created the first fieldguide for arthropods. Choachi, Colombia.
